About Jeannie

Jeannie has a background in drawing , theatre design and printmaking. As a visual creator her work in equal parts is research and process led .She brings together a variety of sensory influences, music, dance, movement with contagious and inquisitive approach to ideas and ways to develop a body of work . Ideas in Jeannie’s recent work are influenced by text and story telling in reading, sound created by using her own voice, and the physical movement of her body to develop drawings, and printmaking. She does this by combining traditional forms of intaglio and relief print.

To quote “Elif Shafak views creativity as a vital, “contagious” force that is deeply connected to empathy, storytelling, and the ability to imagine beyond one’s own immediate reality”

In the 1970’s Jeannie attended St Martins School of Art, London to degree level, and holds an M.A. in Art and Design from the University of Humberside. She also holds a Professional Graduate Diploma from The University of Derby in Teaching in the LifeLong Learning Sector.

Jeannie has had the pleasure of working in art education for over 40 years teaching art history, drawing, printmaking, and painting. She particularly enjoyed sharing ideas with learners, who would often bring a fresh vision that would enhance the creative dialogue.

WEA Nottingham, and Art festivals running drawing and printmaking workshops .She has experience of teaching at level 3, HND, and degree level.

Jeannie also runs bespoke workshops for small groups, and these workshops take place on Zoom and face to face.

 

Jeannie has exhibited widely, and produced a collection of work inspired by jazz during her art residency at Peggy’s Skylight ,Nottingham .She has exhibited widely and more recently at The Tarpey Gallery ,The Harley Gallery , The Old Lockup Gallery, Derby Print and Leicester Print Workshop .
